O, I love Spring. Trees are blossoming, the sun is shining, birds are dancing around and singing loudly. Well, hold on a minute…not so much of all this lately! Or, perhaps autumn is much, much, earlier than expected… That’s possible. Anyway, rain sometimes is good for the soul because it makes you feel staying cozy at home powering on hot teas, travel books, doodles and music. Loads and loads of music. And this weekend has been awesomely musical. A bit of Camille with her ”Ilo Veyou’, a bit of Craig Armstrong with ‘As if so nothing’ (I literally had to dust off that one), a lot of Ane Brun with her stunning performance at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday night – the concert was simply sensational. Her cover of Arcade Fire’s Neighborhood#1 (Tunnels) was a sublime surprise (http://bit.ly/ILxAlI)! People, you must listen to her! and Arcade Fire too in case you didn’t know (yes, I did meet someone lately who had never heard of them. What a loss).
In another gender, a band you also must listen to, and which I discovered a couple of months ago, is the young, playful, yet atmospheric, Belgian band Playtime. Really lovely voice by Simone Wolfe and some great guitars. Their first album ‘Wild Illusions’ was released last year. So far, it has been an extremely good companion to my ears and I look forward to listening to the second album due to be released at some point this year. As a taster, try the video of ‘Wild Illusions’: http://bit.ly/JTGo8O . Bye for now.
